Yes, this is a real photo. Here's how:

Rain combined with a thick ice surface on this lake made it look like this Subaru is driving on water. No danger involved either, as the ice was over 50cm thick, and he was allowed to drive there.

I'm sure they checked the thickness and were careful and whatnot, but I'd be curious how much even very thick ice moves. So if you go 200 feet out, could the ice there be 2 feet lower, and your few inches of rain end up as a multiple-feet-deep puddle...

I'm pretty sure the level of standing water on top of the ice don't change much. The ice thickness might change though, usually around rivers and other boundaries. From what I've read this lake is often used as a road during winter, so I guess they know their way around it.

Its not that bad, but standing out there you can feel the ice move under you when a truck passes. Its kinda spooky.
